High School Experience

Volunteer, North Fork School of Equitation (2006-present)
I regularly perform chores that include manual labor, animal care, minor veterinary care, and exercise/training of horses.  I also assist in lessons for the smaller children (sometimes disabled) to help them learn how to ride.

Internship, Smithsonian Institution, Museum of Natural History (July 2009)
Completed a brief internship at the Smithsonian with Dr. Charles Potter. During my time there I assisted in organizing the marine mammal collection for the museum.

Undergraduate Experience

Undergraduate Researcher, Weiss Lab at Georgetown University (2011-2015)
Investigated learning ability of Monarch and Cabbage White butterflies, life history of Silver Spotted Skippers and recognition of host lichen by an oribatid mite. My senior thesis focused on the importance of diet in the last stages of larval life in the Silver-spotted Skipper. See my projects to see more detail about my studies.

Clarinet Section Leader, Georgetown University Pep Band (2012-2015)
I organized music for the section and assisted with those who needed help with their music.

Treasurer, Georgetown University Equestrian Team (2012-2014)
I organized finances, filed refunds, and kept the balance sheet for the team.

TreasurerFutures in Science and Humanities (FISH) (2013-2014)
Futures in Science and Humanities is a group that I helped found at Georgetown University. Our focus is to bring speakers to campus that have careers that cross the border between science and the humanities to inspire students about potential careers. As treasurer, I organized finances, and provided financial advice to the presidents of the club.

Captain, Georgetown University Equestrian Team (2014-2015)
I organized shows, organized lessons, communicated between our coach and university, and managed fees for team.

Post-Undergraduate Experience

Research Technician, Georgetown University (May 2015-November 2015)
In addition to conducting my own research, I managed the lab for Dr. Martha Weiss during the field season. I compiled data, assisted with the field experiment, managed daily lab chores (such as care for our large colonies), and advised undergraduates on their own projects.

Beer Steward and Tour Guide, Flying Dog Brewery (June 2015-August 2016)
I greeted guests, assisted guests with purchases, and served excellent beer. I additionally led tours around the brewery. I am also a certified Cicerone Beer Steward.

Graduate Experience

Senior Lab Technician, University of Kentucky (September 2016-present)
I manage the lab of Dr. Jennifer White. I oversee daily lab tasks including aphid and plant care, spider care, molecular analysis, and more. In addition, I am also pursing a Master’s degree in Entomology, examining the maternally-inherited reproductive manipulators of M. fradeorum.

President, H. Garman Entomology Club, University of Kentucky (August 2018- September 2019)
I organized both outreach and social events for the entomology graduate students, while also leading multiple outreach events to educate the public about arthropods. In addition, I organized the hosting and invitation of our annual student choice speaker.
